BD Finance’s profit declines in the second quarter

BD Finance’s earnings fell in the second quarter of the year. The Dhaka Stock Exchange announced that the company’s earnings per share (EPS) in the second quarter of the current fiscal year was zero 7 paisa. The previous year’s earnings were 13 paisa in the same period.

In addition, BD Finance’s profit decreased overall in the two quarters of the year. In the first two quarters of the fiscal year, i.e. 6 months (January ’25-June ’25), the company’s EPS was 12 paisa. In the same period last year, the income was 33 paisa.

As of June 30, 2025, the company’s net asset value per share (NAVPS) was negative 29 taka 92 paisa. The company’s net operating cash flow per share was negative 16 paisa on the date.

The announcement said that the company’s consolidated earnings per share (EPS) in the second quarter of 2025 decreased compared to the same period of the previous year. The company said that the main reason for this EPS decrease was a significant decrease in net interest income and investment income.

In addition, Bangladesh Finance or BD Finance made a record loss last year. At the end of the year, the company’s loss increased to 783 crore taka. Due to which the company did not pay dividends to shareholders for 2024.

In 2023, BD Finance lost about 104 crore taka; last year, which increased seven and a half times to 783 crore taka. This is the company’s biggest loss record since it started its journey in 1999. According to the financial report, BD Finance lost about 20 crore taka in the first 9 months of last year, January-September. It increased to 783 crore taka by the end of the year. As a result, the company’s loss per share (EPS) stood at 41 taka and 61 paisa at the end of the year. In 2023, the loss was 5 taka 60 paisa.
